Caroline Banks has always worked in art and design. An art foundation course in Blackpool was followed by a degree in mixed media textiles at Loughborough University. As well as making art, she has worked in a variety of creative environments involving diverse media for both fashion and interiors.
In 2001 she took up the offer to go to India for a year with VSO, an NGO. The intensity of life there affected her deeply. Bihar, where the project was based, is the birthplace of Buddhism and this was a reflective time for her both personally as well as artistically. After that she was invited to work with an Indian agency taking her all over India and then to China and Vietnam for another 6 years.
Returned to the UK at the end of 2007 she is now based in London where her work is drawn on the nature of time and memory, recording the intangible.
Artwork ranges in size from 15 x 10 cm upwards with all dimensions given on the Gallery page.

Her weekly blog celebrates art and creativity in many forms and she is actively involved in art organisations including BSAA and ArtCan, both of which support and enable artists to sustain their practice.
